UCT Children’s Institute hosts successful launch of its South African Child Guage 2016
The UCT Children’s Institute hosted successful launches of its South African Child Gauge 2016 in Pretoria and Cape Town in 2016. This issue was dedicated to the theme of children and social assistance. The 2016 Child Gauge features nine essays that outline the benefits of social assistance – in particular the Child Support Grant – and reflect on recent policy proposals that aim to build on this foundation and contribute to the progressive realisation of children’s right to social assistance.
Among those who attended the launch in Pretoria on 22 November 2016 were some key supporters and contributors, including, from left: Yulia Krieger (UNICEF SA), Alejandro Grinspun (UNICEF), Kath Hall (Children’s Institute), Mastoera Sadan (Programme to Support Pro-Poor Policy Development [PSPPD]), Aislinn Delany (Children’s Institute), Shanaaz Mathews (Children’s Institute), Lori Lake (Children’s Institute), Linda Richter (DST-NRF Centre of Excellence in Human Development), Paula Proudlock (Children’s Institute), Francie Lund (WIEGO) and Selwyn Jehoma (Economic Policy Research Institute).
